Any brave souls out there braving the cold weather to catch some slabs. Please let us know how you are doing and where you fish. I live in Indiana and have finally learned how to catch some decent crappie. Being from Tennessee and fishing Kentucky Lake and other great crappie lakes in the south I was a little spoiled when I came to Indiana. My favorite way to catch crappie here is trolling. I don't mean spider rigging with the trolling motor but trolling with kicker engine in wide open water and 1.5 to 2.2 mph.
Just went a week ago November 15 and caught a few crappie on Cagles Mills. The fish were on a drop off a sharp point. The crappie were in 5 to 8 foot of water. Water temp was 51 air temp 58. Nice day caught 12 good crappie. Yellow was the color they preferred which I have found is usually the case at that lake.
